Author Biography

  • Andrea Sterzuk, u of r

    My name is Andrea Sterzuk. I’m a teacher, teacher educator, and educational researcher with over 15 years of experience. I speak/write English, French and Spanish and I have a Bachelor of French Education from the University of Regina, an MA in Second Language Education from McGill University, and a PhD in Second Language Education with a specialization in Language Acquisition from McGill University. Roy Lyster was my supervisor.

    I am currently an associate professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina where I teach graduate and undergraduate courses and explore my research interests in language variation; print literacy development; language acquisition; second language pedagogy;  multiliteracies; language policy; language ideologies; identity and power; and education in postcolonial contexts. My previous experiences include teaching, teacher education, and educational research in Mexico, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Québec, and Saskatchewan, where I now live.
